Kamera 2025

For this project I designed, had manufactured and constructed a limited series of 8 trophies that were presented to the winners at the KAMERA 2025 awards ceremony in Bratislava.
KAMERA is a biannual event organized by the Slovak Association of Cinematographers to recognise and support excellence in cinematographic craft across multiple categories of audiovisual work.
This project translates the award's visual identity into a physical object through a series of carefully considered design decisions. The trophies were conceived as refined, tactile artefacts that embody both contemporary aesthetics and the symbolic significance of professional recognition. Each piece was fabricated with precision, reflecting a balance between form, materiality, and craftsmanship - an approach that resonates with the values of both the award and the cinematic community it honours.
The specific design choices I made stemmed mainly from various aspects of the cinematographic world, where these awards belong. The circular form of the “face” of the award refers to the innovative sharpness indicator invention by Ivan Puťora. The front half is attached magnetically to the rest of the body and can be rotated on its axis - this refers to the motion of focusing camera lenses. The “legs” of the award resemble a camera tripod and the base was inspired by a vintage film reel case.
From initial discussions, research and concept development to prototyping and final production, this project reflects my approach to design as a continuous, iterative process. KAMERA 2025 stands as a tangible outcome of this methodology.
Seeing the trophies presented to the award recipients confirmed my belief in the importance of thoughtful design in cultural events.
