Interactive standing lamp "UL"
This lamp originated as my studio project during the summer semester of 2022/23 at the Slovak University of Technology.
It is the result of my first experience with parametric design
and, likewise, with the production of a fully functional prototype
of these dimensions (the lamp stands at a height of 150cm,
not far from my own height). It was a challenging yet highly enriching experience for me - not only due to the implementation
of new technologies into my design process but also in the
actual production of this prototype.

It is primarily made of wood and cotton coated with beeswax.
The internal steel frame is surrounded by an LED strip with
warm white light and the outer construction of the lamp consists,
in addition to the waxed cotton shell, of sixteen segments made
of poplar plywood. Wooden segments can be rotated, changing
the shape of the lamp and the amount of light passing through it. This interactive element aims to attract the attention of passersby and encourages them to touch the product themselves.

The overall design is inspired by the shape of wild bees’
beehives but the specific shape of each segment was created
using Grasshopper, ensuring a certain degree of randomness.
The product exudes harmony and tranquility thanks to natural materials and the gentle light emitted by the lamp. When
the individual segments are separated, the construction
allows a strong sun-like beam of light to pass through.

Virtual reality gallery
“Mysľou som v galérii” is virtual reality designed for galleries as an accompanying experience for visitors. It offers new perspectives on the exhibited works of Laco Teren and at the same time encourages reflection on the form and shape of their own thoughts. Through fragments of specific works, it speaks about the diversity of the human mind and, thanks to a simple game, maintains the attention of younger viewers.

Space through metaphors opens up various questions but leaves visitors to answer them for themselves. What they take away from the VR experience, we can only guess. However, I hope that at least a few of them will spark curiosity about what is happening in our minds.

Perhaps they can imagine how it might look inside their own heads. But what about a partner, mom, or colleague? Who knows. Maybe there, neatly arranged side by side, are concepts, or perhaps there is an incomprehensible mixture of abstract shapes. Only they themselves know.
