NUA

NUA is a small wooden trashcan designed with an emphasis on minimalism, clarity, and functional elegance. Its name reflects the clean and reduced aesthetic of the object, where every element serves a clear purpose without unnecessary decoration. The design draws inspiration from mid-century modern furniture, visible in its balanced proportions, material choice, and timeless character.

The outer shell is crafted from CNC-machined plywood and finished with a dark deck stain to resemble mahogany. This treatment enhances the natural wood texture while giving the piece a refined, furniture-like appearance, allowing it to blend seamlessly into both home and office interiors. NUA is intended for use as a compact desk or bathroom trashcan, offering a subtle yet thoughtful alternative to conventional plastic bins.

To protect the wooden structure from moisture and everyday wear, the interior compartment is made from 3D-printed PLA. This removable insert ensures durability and easy maintenance while preserving the integrity of the wooden shell. The combination of digital fabrication and traditional material highlights a dialogue between craftsmanship and contemporary production methods.
